ViaLite announce L-band and reference over a single fibre

ViaLite Communications have announced a new product which allows simultaneous transmission of L-band traffic and a reference signal over a single fibre.  The link is designed for applications where remote equipment shares a common frequency reference in the range 5-20MHz.

“This product allows customers to connect their modem to the LNB or BUC via fibre without worrying about the complexity of transmitting two signals separately,” says Dr Martin Ryan, sales and marketing director. “It is as easy to install as a length of coax, yet brings the benefits of using optical fibre.”

Like the rest of the ViaLite product range, the link is suitable for almost any modulation format.  Reference and L-band traffic are transported on different wavelengths to minimise intermodulation and can even be transmitted in opposite directions along the same fibre.  The L-band + reference link is available in rack card format as either a receiver or transmitter.  A range of optical and electrical connector options are available, including blind mate which supports easy hot swapping.
