Advantech Wireless selected for UAV video backhaul and dissemination from in-theatre operations.

Advantech Wireless, a Quebec-based manufacturer of satellite communications systems has been contracted through Marshall Communications Corporation for the design, supply and installation of an additional DVB-RCS Hub to DISA. In response to increased requirements from USCENTCOM, the HUB will support UAV video backhaul and dissemination from in theater operations. This hub is similar to the previously delivered DVB-RCS hubs and will incorporate new features such as DVB-S2 technology which will allow increased bandwidth efficiency.
The new order from DISA includes not only equipment procurement but also services from Advantech’s renowned systems engineers and support staff. These services include system design, operators training, installation, integration and various support activities.
The fully redundant Advantech DVB-S2/RCS Hub supports 2 outbound links operating at up to 135 Mbps each and inbounds to the hub totaling 120 Mbps based on Advantech world leading technology. Advantech has also received an order for an undisclosed number of modems to be integrated and used for the in theatre operations.
