Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Announces Thuraya Partnership and New Advanced Shipboard Terminal Suite

Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, in partnership with Thuraya Telecommunications Co. is developing an advanced, broadband satellite transceiver for the commercial maritime market. The new shipboard terminal suite complies with all maritime standards, and features leading market technology such as an advanced antenna that ensures high-quality connectivity to the satellite regardless of vessel movements. This terminal will be used to conduct business while a vessel is at sea, as well as for private use by crew members. Comtech expects to formally launch this new product in September of this year.

 

The Comtech maritime terminal will provide high-quality voice services as well as a broadband service with connection speeds of up to 444 kbps. Additionally, users will also be able to access high-speed video-streaming at speeds of 384 kbps at sea. The competitiveness of the new solution lies in its compact size and cost-effectiveness to meet the needs of the maritime market.
