ThinKom Solutions Secures $3.9 Million Combined Contract for Portable Ground Stations for the U.S. Department of Defense

February 9, 2026

ThinKom Solutions, Inc., was awarded a follow-on contract, with a combined value of $3.9 million, to provide portable ground stations for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The systems offer tactical, resilient connectivity anywhere it’s needed, without fixed infrastructure.

Based on ThinKom’s proprietary, patented VICTS technology, the portable ground stations are airline-checkable and field-ready for rapid deployment virtually anywhere. They provide robust, high-speed connectivity for satellite networks in any orbit and include multiple receiving antennas connected to a digital beamformer that enables exponentially enhanced performance.

“This follow-on award is a testament to ThinKom’s flexible, field-ready SATCOM solutions,” explained Bill Milroy, CTO and co-founder at ThinKom. “As the DoD enters increasingly complex and contested environments, reliable and secure satellite connectivity is essential for real-time operations and decision advantage. We’re proud to showcase American ingenuity, strengthen mission readiness, and give warfighters the resilient, next-generation tools they need to stay ahead.”

ThinKom’s design for the portable ground stations allows antennas to be placed in any orientation and configured with one antenna module or combined with up to eight additional modules at the tactical edge. This functionality enables rapid deployment, eliminating the need for the assembly of pedaled parabolic dishes, and adds both NGSO tracking and communications-on-the-move (COTM) capability.

ThinKom’s VICTS—a resilient, steerable, mechanical phased array antenna—is uniquely suited for environments that require adaptable and scalable solutions. It offers precision steering and rapid beam agility in a conformal form factor. ThinKom’s phased arrays are secured in customized rugged cases and can track satellites in any orbital regime.

Available in S- through E-band frequencies and a range of fixed-site and mobile form factors, ThinKom’s modular, digitally combined ground stations are configured to customer-specific network, SWaP and performance requirements.
