of CurvaNet
Telefónica Global Solutions
and Curvalux Inc. have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding for collaboration to distribute
CurvaNet, the world’s most affordable universal
satellite broadband service, in Europe and the
Americas.
“We are thrilled to be
collaborating with Telefonica Global Solutions
in the viability analysis to provide the
incredibly affordable CurvaNet satellite
broadband services to the remote areas of the
Americas and Europe. We
designed the CurvaNet service with the 3 billion
unconnected users in mind by starting with a
very innovative design for the Customer Premise
Equipment (“CPE”) which is extremely affordable
and is so power efficient that it can be
completely operated using a small solar panel.
The unique design of our power efficient
low-cost CPE, together with our intelligent Low
Earth Orbit (“LEO”) satellite constellation
would allow TGS to reach users where commercial
electricity is unavailable or cost prohibitive.
Connecting hard-to-reach locations has
always been challenging due to the lack of
backhaul, electrical power, and sufficient user
density to justify the investment for telecom
operators to extend their networks to remote
areas. CurvaNet solves these
complex challenges to finally provide an
affordable and accessible broadband service to
connect the 3 billion people who do not have
access to the internet.”, said Richard Pak, CEO
of Curvalux Inc.”
“We trust that CurvaNet
satellite broadband services can be a good
solution for some applications and use cases and
we bet on the development of the market and this
type of solutions that are aimed at reducing the
digital divide.” said Gustavo Arditti, Satellite
Business Unit Director of TGS.”
