Groundbreaking ceremony: Space company SCISYS expands to former Opel site in Bochum

The SCISYS company celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony on 10 April 2019 for an additional, new location in Bochum. The software and technology company is expanding and is set to establish a new location for its space division at Alte Wittener Straße. This area, known by the name MARK 51°7, is emerging as an excellent technology district. The new building will be constructed by HARPEN Immobilien GmbH on the former Opel site. This expansion by the international SCISYS group marks a further expansion in Germany, adding to its existing offices in Bochum, Dortmund, Darmstadt and Munich.

SCISYS has operated in Germany for more than 30 years and has a close connection to what it regards as its hometown of Bochum. Therefore, the brilliant infrastructure of the MARK 51°7 area made the decision for keeping its latest location in the heart of the Ruhr Area easy. As a future-oriented, globally operating company, which has so far been involved in more than 50 national and international space missions, SCISYS sees the new location in the east of Bochum as a perfect future workplace. The proximity to other technology companies and the related potential for cooperation are also added benefits for the company.

The goal of MARK 51°7 is to expand it further into a sustainable industrial, technology and knowledge campus, which integrates companies, customers, employees and residents alike. While it was inaccessible in former times, it now should become a new gateway to Bochum. SCISYS supports the concept and is pleased to be part of the endeavour, as well as benefit from the excellent infrastructure in the future.
