June 2, 2009
SkyVision, has signed a multi-year contract for one transponder on the newly-launched W2A satellite. The new capacity supplements SkyVision's extensive pan-African space segment and private networks inventory.
From its main gateways in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, SkyVision provides end-to-end solutions of standard or customised IP services for global enterprises, NGOs (Non Governmental Organisations) as well as Internet Service Providers.
Launched on April 3 and located at 10 degrees East, the Ku-band and C-band capacity of Eutelsat's new W2A satellite went into full commercial service on May 19. SkyVision has selected the satellite's C-band capacity which Eutelsat has introduced for the first time at its longstanding 10 degrees East neighbourhood. In addition to W2A's payload of up to 46 Ku-band transponders, the satellite's 10 C-band transponders provide users with a vast coverage stretching from South America, across Africa and Europe and through to the Indian sub-continent.
Mark Gazit, President and CEO of SkyVision, comments on the contract signing: "W2A will be providing vital as well as reliable inter-continental capabilities to our global network which has experienced phenomenal growth over the past three years. We are pleased to add W2A to our large inventory of service platforms supporting on a multi-year basis the substantial pan-African Internet connectivity demand with this valuable capacity, and we look forward to a continued, mutually beneficial relationship with Eutelsat Communications."
Olivier Milliès-Lacroix, Eutelsat Commercial Director commented: "The new C-band mission on W2A brings capacity in high demand to our in-orbit resources and equips Eutelsat to further expand and diversify our client base. We are delighted that SkyVision, a specialist in Internet connectivity services is now on board W2A."
