TheKabelKiosk
platform
of
digital
channels
operated
by
the
German
subsidiary
ofEutelsat
Communications
initiates
today
broadcasts
fromthe
EUROBIRD™
9A
satellite
which
went
into
service
on
24
February
at 9
degreesEast.
Dualillumination
of
the
platform
will
be
carried
for
a
three-month
period
onEUROBIRD™
9A
(9
degrees
East)
and
ATLANTIC
BIRD™
2 (8
degrees
West).
This
willenable
cable
operators
to
complete
the
migration
to
Eutelsat’s
9
degrees
Eastposition
and
secure
room
for
significant
expansion
of
digital
channels
andservices
for
independent
cable
operators
in
continental
Europe,
notably
Germany,Austria,
Switzerland,
Denmark
andLuxembourg.
KabelKioskis
aheadend-in-the-skycable
platform
thatprovidesoperators
with
a
diverse
array
of
digital
channels
and
services.
By
offering
amultiplicity
of
German
and
international
content,
Eutelsat
Deutschland’splatform
is
making
a
significant
contribution
to
the
full
transition
to
digitalof
cable
markets
in
the
regions
it
serves.
Independent
cable
operators
alreadyusing
KabelKiosk
include
TeleColumbus,
one
ofGermany's
threelargest
cable
companies.
Almost200,000
homes
now
subscribe
to
KabelKiosk,
with
the
number
of
channelsincreasing
over
the
last
12
months
from
70
to
120.
New
additions
to
the
basicpackage
of
commercial
channels
that
will
join
KabelKioskfromApril
15includeCNBC,
Russia
Today
and
TVE
Internacional.
