ND SatCom Awarded Frame Contract from Q-KON

April 8, 2009

ND SatCom, received a 2-year frame contract from Q-KON, a leading service provider based in South Africa, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The contract was achieved in close cooperation with ND SatCom’s sister company SES ASTRA Africa. Q-KON, which operates ten VSAT networks over nine satellites from seven teleports, will procure new generation  units for up to 1000 sites all over Africa, which will be used mainly for organizations in mining, oil & gas, banking, and transportation.

“It is our goal to establish a single pan-African network, which integrates teleports in Africa and Europe. We are able to set up a multi-dimensional, multi-star IP satellite access platform to provide seamless IP connectivity for corporate customers. The mesh capability ideally supports single satellite hop connections”, says Dawie de Wet, CEO of Q-KON. “ND SatCom and Q-KON have been working together for almost a decade now. We both have a deep understanding of what the African market is looking for. With Q-KON, we found a strong local partner, who has an excellent reputation in Africa and offers us market access to a fast growing client base”, says Norbert Hölzle, CEO of ND SatCom and leader of the Europe & Africa business unit.
