TANDBERG Television Introduces Multi-Format Receiver for Distribution Applications

March 26, 2009

TANDBERG Television, introduced the RX8330 professional integrated receiver decoder, the newest product in the RX8300 series of products optimized for high-volume video distribution applications. The RX8330 distribution receiver is built into a compact, one rack (1RU) unit chassis with many standard features and an array of system configuration options. The device decodes all major SD video formats in use today, making it a safe, yet flexible choice for programmers and operators who have yet to migrate from MPEG-2 SD to MPEG-4 AVC SD.

The new distribution receiver provides industry-standard transport stream interfaces, compatibility with popular conditional access systems including DVB Common Interface, integrated Dolby audio decoding as well as options for on-site or remote system configuration and management.

With the addition of a high quality SDI output, many users will find it an appropriate solution for MPEG-2 SD 4:2:0 applications. Standard features include a 4-input DVB-S QPSK satellite demodulator (with a DVB-S2 option); transport stream input with ASI connection; dual, switchable ASI/SDI output; support for major CA standards including DVB Common Interface and TANDBERG Director®; front panel and web browser control with alarm relay; and SCTE 35 controlled contact closures for ad insertion signaling.

“The RX8300 series of receivers offers operators and programmers the flexibility they need and the quality they expect in applications ranging from content distribution to digital turn-around,” said Lisa Hobbs, Vice President Business Development of Satellite & Broadcast at TANDBERG Television. “The new RX8330 distribution receiver delivers cost-effective, efficient bandwidth usage as well as the high standards of reliability and video quality that customers have come to expect from TANDBERG Television.”

Satellite 2009 Demonstration Features RX8330 Receiver and RX8250 Program Transcoder

Attendees at Satellite 2009 may visit the TANDBERG Television booth for a demonstration of the RX8330 used in tandem with the RX8250 program transcoder, to learn how these products can simplify content acquisition for satellite, cable and telco operators as well as programmers. The RX8250 HD program transcoder enables programmers to harness the bandwidth efficiencies of MPEG-4 AVC HD and DVB-S2 satellite distribution. TANDBERG Director software simplifies the configuration and control of the complete TANDBERG Television compression system, ensuring mission critical services remain on air, offering advanced scheduling capability, real time monitoring and alarm/failover triggers to maximize system reliability.
