Talia: Services for Afghanistan, the Middle East, and East Africa

28 February 2012

Talia has signed multi-million dollar long-term transponder lease agreement on APSTAR 7. Talia will offer Internet, intranet, and closed network solutions on APSTAR 7's Ku beam, serving Afghanistan, the Middle East, and East Africa.

'APSTAR 7 offers excellent coverage from Afghanistan to South Sudan,' said Alan Afrasiab, Talia's CEO and President. 'We can connect Afghanistan, East Africa, and the Middle East all to Europe with a single hop, with small antennas, and reduced latency for customers who need mesh, remote hub, or point to point services.'

APT commissioned APSTAR 7 with Thales Alenia Space France on September 29, 2009. APSTAR 7 is the latest advanced telecommunication satellite based on the Spacebus 4000 C2 platform, with 28 C-band transponders and 28 Ku-band transponders offering reliable broadcasting and telecommunications services over hemispheric footprints covering the Asia Pacific Region, Middle East, and Africa.

'We are extremely pleased to have Talia as one of the important customers on APSTAR 7,' said Cheng Guangren, APT’s Executive Director and President. 'We appreciate that Talia has choices when it comes to selecting a partner, and are pleased that they are confident in APSTAR 7. We are committed to continuing to provide our highest quality services.'
