Talia Expands African Services on Arabsat BADR-6

July 14th  2008.

Talia has taken a long-term lease of capacity on Arabsat's brand new BADR-6 satellite. Focused over the Middle East and Africa, the BADR-6 C-band wide coverage will be used to provide new iDirect and dedicated services to Talia customers throughout the entire region.

"Expanding African services is key to our long-term growth," said Travis Mooney, Talia's Chief Operating Officer. "Capacity on BADR-6, combined with our experience running iDirect services throughout the Middle East and North Africa, allows us a great opportunity to enter the sub-Saharan African market."

Talia services on BADR-6 will provide shared and dedicated connectivity to enterprise, corporate, NGO, and channel customers throughout the Middle East and African markets, for both Internet and closed-network solutions.

"Arabsat is dedicated to the Middle Eastern and African markets," said Alan Afrasiab, Talia's Chief Executive Officer. "They are a top-tier satellite operator, and that makes them a natural match for us. This expansion is just one part of our plan to be the preeminent satellite ISP in both the Middle East and Africa."

"We are delighted that Talia has elected to chose our brand new BADR-6 satellite for C-band coverage over the African continent," said  Eng. Khalid Balkheyour, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arabsat. "Arabsat is extremely pleased to become an important part of Talia's growth strategy in that region."

"Opening the African market with BADR-6 gives us a lot of latitude to offer services," said Tyler Wagner, Talia's Chief Technical Officer. "Especially in a region where capacity is scarce, BADR-6 coverage gives us the ability to service local, multi-national, and NGO customers."

"We have specifically designed the C-band payload of BADR-6 to best satisfy the needs of the booming African telecommunications market," said Mr. Balkheyour. "Talia's choice of BADR-6 for data services and the commercial success the satellite already shows demonstrate our commitment to bringing best of breed services to the market."
