STM
Brings
DVB-RCS2
to
CABSAT
2012
February
28,
2012
STMEA,
a
subsidiary
of
STM
Group,
Inc.,
will
be
showing
the
SatLink®
family
of
VSATs
and
Hubs,
both
supporting
the
new
DVB-RCS2
standard,
at
CABSAT
2012
in
Dubai.
STM
leads
the
way
with
the
"RCS2"
standard,
having
been
the
first
to
demonstrate
and
implement
it
in
2011.
RCS2
provides
for
higher
order
modulation
and
coding
along
with
many
other
elements
contributing
to
higher
throughput
and
bandwidth
efficiency.
Total
efficiency
gains
with
RCS2
can
be
as
large
as
300
percent
on
TDMA
carriers
compared
to
legacy
VSAT
networks.
The
SatLink
implementation
of
RCS2
builds
on
the
standard,
yielding
higher
bandwidth
efficiencies
on
TDMA
carriers
and
offering
excellent
return
link
availability
with
ACM,
as
is
critical
for
new
broadband
networks.
Plus,
there
are
significant
gains
in
the
average
throughput
per
VSAT
with
SatLink’s
higher
symbol
rate
support
and
much
higher
capacity
carrier
groups
with
fast
dynamic
bandwidth
sharing
via
frequency
hopping.
The
ongoing
evolution
of
the
open
standard
is
increasingly
being
adapted
for
mobility
and
interoperable
IP
based
defense
communications.
STM
is
an
experienced
provider
of
Communications
on
the
Move
(COTM)
solutions,
having
installed
networks
for
various
mobile
applications,
including
trains,
ships,
and
military
vehicles.
SatLink's
mobility
benefits
will
be
featured
at
the
conference.
SatLink
Hubs
will
also
be
featured
at
the
exhibition,
including
the
latest
models,
the
SatLink
Hub
9100
SE &
SatLink
Hub
9200
SE,
optimized
for
small
to
medium
enterprises.
SatLink
Hubs
are
designed
with
OpenHub
architecture,
which
allows
for
Hubs
with
complete
flexibility
in
all
configuration
ratios,
massive
scalability
up
to
millions
of
VSATs,
and
the
optional
integration
of
third
party
hardware
modules
for
selected
value-added
functions.
