Inmarsat, announced the opening of its
Asia Solutions Laboratory in Singapore.
The solutions lab will be used for
customer demonstrations, training for
partners, and the development of new
solutions.
The
Singapore solutions laboratory is
equipped with a full range of BGAN and
FleetBroadband terminals, dedicated
end-to-end architecture and a conference
room, which makes it possible for
partners to bring their customers to the
lab.
Mr.
James Collett, Director of Commercial
Services, Inmarsat said, “Demand for MSS
has been increasing significantly and we
see Asia continuing to make a strong
contribution to our global revenues. The
coming launch of our third Inmarsat-4
satellite will provide enhanced
coverage across Asia Pacific. To better
support our partners and their customers
in this region, we decided to set up our
first solutions lab in Asia in
Singapore, which we see as the gateway
to the region with its pro-business
environment, excellent infocomm
infrastructure and strong technological
capability.”
Inmarsat will be hiring individuals with
experience in the mobile satellite
communications space to support the work
in the solutions lab.
The
Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)
recognises Inmarsat’s commitment to
business excellence in Singapore. “We
are pleased that Inmarsat has chosen
Singapore as the preferred location for
its first Asia-Pacific Solutions
Laboratory. With Singapore’s strength in
telecommunications, her position as one
of the world's busiest ports and the
proximity to the growth markets in Asia,
we are optimistic that this new office
will bring new growth opportunities to
Inmarsat,” said Ms. Jacqueline Tan,
Director, Infocomms & Media, EDB.
Inmarsat established its first solutions
laboratory in London in 2006, where it
was designed as an environment to test
BGAN applications. Following positive
feedback from partners, the company is
replicating the labs in other regions in
the world, especially in Asia where the
company has seen a strong increase in
demand for mobile satellite services
(MSS) over the last five years.
Ms.
Lisa Wagner, Inmarsat’s Representative
in Singapore, shared, “We have been
preparing for the opening of the
Singapore Lab for some time and we’re
very excited that it is now up and
running. By the end of 2007, we had
officially launched all three of our
mobile broadband services – Broadband
Global Area Network (BGAN),
FleetBroadband and SwiftBroadband – for
the land, maritime and aeronautical
markets respectively. We hope to
encourage our partners to bring their
customers to this office to test and see
the benefits that two of our most
important services, BGAN and
FleetBroadband, can offer.”
