The first dedicated DTH service platform for Cambodia

Cambodian DTV Network Limited (“CDN”) and National Television of Kampuchea (“TVK”) announced the launching ceremony of “TECHO-DTV” service presided over by H.E. Mr. Khieu Kanharith, the Minister of Information as well as a number of local and international distinguished guests. In the ceremony, a contract was signed between Cambodian DTV Network Limited (CDN) and National Television of Kampuchea (TVK) witnessed by H.E. Mr. Khieu Kanharith.           

TECHO-DTV service is the first satellite television network service that provides Direct-to-Home (DTH) television programming to every household in the kingdom. The viewer will enjoy watching all local Khmer channels for FREE.  The service also includes some foreign channels and the capability to subscribe to Local Contents - Pay TV services in the near future.

The price of the DTV set is US$75, including a 60 cm. Ku-band satellite dish with LNB & Mounting and DTV set-top-box unit with remote control. 

The main benefits of TECHO-DTV service can be summarized as follows;

-          Digital quality of picture and sound, similar to DVD quality

-          Free content of all Khmer language channels

-          Easy to install at every location of your house, building, etc. with the slogan of

 “If you can see the sky, you can enjoy watching DTV wherever you are”. 

TECHO-DTV service will greatly contribute to the overall development of the information broadcasting network infrastructure of the country. “TVK, as the national television broadcaster being responsible for the nationwide information broadcast, proudly presents this new service to the people of the kingdom and the successful cooperation with CDN to develop the nation’s first DTH service”, said H.E. Mr. Kem Gunawadh - Director General of TVK.  

According to the statistical data, there are still two-thirds of about three (3) million households that have no TV sets at home. “The key objective of this service cooperation is to build the nationwide information infrastructure that benefits all Cambodians in accordance to the government policy direction to evenly develop and educate its citizen. The TECHO-DTV service will not only be focused to provide the existing Khmer channels, but to be equipped with the potential capability to develop new programs for long-distance education to rural area, and to specifically benefit the promotion of Khmer culture & tourism industry as our contribution to the country also”, said Mr.Nuthapong Temsiripong, General Manager of Cambodian DTV Network Limited.
