Hughes Signs Control4 as Sales Agent for HughesNet Satellite Broadband Internet Service

June 8

Hughes Network Systems, LLC has signed a sales agent agreement with Control4, a Salt Lake City, Utah home automation company, authorizing its network of over 1,400 dealers in the U.S. and Canada to sell HughesNet satellite broadband Internet service.

In many cases, consumers who are interested in automating their homes are unable to do so because their homes are located in areas that are not wired with DSL or cable broadband service. HughesNet satellite broadband Internet service is an ideal solution as it is available everywhere there is a clear view of the southern sky. With the ability to sell HughesNet, Control4 dealers are in an excellent position to create a new revenue stream while reaching a large base of consumers who cannot receive broadband through landline services.

"Control4 is making home control a practical option for any residence," said Will West, CEO of Control4. "However, this automation needs broadband access, and terrestrial options are not always available. We believe that HughesNet satellite broadband is a perfect complement to the products and services our dealers sell. The addition of satellite broadband to our portfolio will open up a new revenue stream for our dealers and a new sales channel for Hughes."

Control4 makes life easier by incorporating all the entertainment and environmental systems in a home on a single, easy-to-use platform, so they all work together. By offering one-touch control of both new and existing electronics, Control4 makes effortless entertainment, safety, convenience, comfort, and energy management accessible to the broad market.

ccording to Allen McCabe, Hughes assistant vice president for Channel Sales, "Aligning with Control4 presents the perfect opportunity for Hughes to expand its reach to consumers who are tech savvy, but who, due to geography, may not have access to landline broadband."
