Carrier to Carrier up-link on new Telstar 11N satellite

Independent Dutch telecom provider Carrier to Carrier Telecom B.V. successfully up-linked on the new Telstar 11N satellite, nearly immediately after the satellite was released for operations.

With a satellite capacity shortage in the market C2C can now offer its clients extensive growth and new high power network possibilities with reliability and quality. The satellite covers Europe, North America, the Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Africa.

C2C has built infrastructure to specifically service the Telstar 11N satellite. Services will run on a new 6,3m Vertex antenna from its Teleport on the Netherlands. C2C infrastructure includes access to a redundant SDH fibre ring, redundant Carrier Ethernet or Gig Ethernet fibre infrastructure as well as telehouse infrastructure and connections to large Internet Access providers in Amsterdam.

This Telstar satellite was successfully launched on 27 February 2009 and on 1 April 2009 Telesat, the Telstar owner, announced that the satellite is ready for commercial services. On the same day C2C started operations.

“ To uplink on this satellite was a major mile stone for C2C and the start of new services over  Europe, North America, the Caribbean and Africa has brought certain elements of our business strategy to fruition”, says Pier du Plessis managing Director of Carrier to Carrier. “It takes guts and confidence in the satellite operator to begin planning and building infrastructure a year ahead of the launch date of a satellite; given the spate of satellite launch failures of the last few years. Our calculated risk paid off and now we are able to provide expansion capabilities to our clients with immediate effect.”

Carrier to Carrier Telecom B.V. was established in 1999 and specialises in providing bespoke high-end networks for its customers. Its satellite earth station is located in the town of Biddinghuizen, 70 kilometres north of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. C2C operates in the Government, Military, Oil & Gas and Enterprise markets.
