MDA to provide advanced technology solutions for network and media services

5 January 2010

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. has signed a multi-million dollar contract with Boeing Satellite and Intelligence Systems, Inc. (Boeing). MDA will deliver four advanced technology solutions with the potential opportunity to supply twelve additional units. The first four units will fly on a Boeing 702B satellite.

Don Osborne, one of MDA’s vice presidents with the Information Systems group, said ‘We look forward to a strategic long-term relationship with Boeing. This contract strengthens our leading role in the commercial communication satellite industry.’

This contract is an integral part of Boeing’s Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRB) program associated with the Canadian government’s acquisition of four C-17 airlifters – designated CC-177 for the Canadian Forces. Canada’s IRB Policy requires prime contractors such as Boeing to make investments in the Canadian economy as a result of winning defence and security contracts with the Government of Canada.
